INTERFAITH MEDICAL CENTER TO PROVIDE WYCKOFF HEIGHTS MEDICAL CENTER

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Brooklyn, N.Y., October 1, 2012—Interfaith Medical Center (“Interfaith”) and Wyckoff (“Wyckoff”) Heights Medical Center have announced they have reached an agreement, effective today, whereby Interfaith will be the exclusive provider of behavioral health services at Wyckoff, it was announced jointly by the two hospitals. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

In making the announcement Ramon Rodriguez President and Chief Executive Officer of Wyckoff said, “Interfaith Medical Center has a long and proven track record of outstanding psychiatric services.  We at Wyckoff have determined that it is in the best interest of our provision of quality care to our patients, the efficient management of our resources and the enhancement of the educational experience for our residents and fellows to engage Interfaith to provide its psychiatrists to support Wyckoff’s integrated delivery of service to our neighbors.”

Mr. Luis Hernandez, President and Chief Executive Officer of Interfaith Medical Center said, “Behavioral Health is one of the many of Interfaith’s Centers of Excellence, about which we are very proud. We are very gratified that Wyckoff has recognized our exemplary capabilities in psychiatry and has engaged Interfaith to support their inpatient, community and emergency services.”

Among the services Interfaith Medical Center will provide Wyckoff are psychiatric consultations for in-patient, out-patients and emergency department patients including children and adolescents; evaluations of patients with substance abuse problems; evaluation and follow-up of patients with Hepatitis C and HIV; evaluation of psychiatric patients with psychiatric issues for one-to-one observation and patients who require additional support within the pain management clinics.  Interfaith clinician participation in the education and training of Wyckoff medical staff and residents will enhance the active learning they already receive.  The monitoring and maintaining compliance in the area of Psychiatric Care and evaluation of patients for capacity to make medical decisions and discharge against medical advice will be a component of the on-site component of the work of the physicians from Interfaith seven days a week.

Both Interfaith and Wyckoff seek to integrate the behavioral, physical and spiritual needs of the patients who we share in the many neighborhoods surrounding our institutions and community clinical centers.  Mr. Hernandez and Mr. Rodriguez commented, “We look forward to other collaborations as consistent with the mission of both our community hospitals.”
