What is WIC?

The special supplemental food program for Women, Infants, and Children, more commonly known as WIC, provides specific foods and nutritional education. We promote, improve and maintain the health and nutritional status of at-risk women, infants and young children through professional advice and compliance with high-risk protocols. We also aim to increase the percentage of newborns breastfed at hospital discharge, and to prevent childhood obesity.

What can WIC do for you?

WIC can save you money on your food budget. WIC provides food checks every month for qualified recipients. Women and children receive food worth an average of $40 a month. Foods for formula-fed babies are worth up to $90 a month.

WIC can show you how to be healthier and eat more healthy foods.
WIC can help you find medical help for you and your family, and you can learn about other services in your community that might help you.
Application to the program is reserved for pregnant women, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding mothers of babies up to 6 months old and children under 5 years old.
