Internal Medicine Residency Training Program

The First Year

Wyckoff Heights Medical Center offers 22 first-year positions in Internal Medicine. Sixteen positions are offered in the Categorical Three-Year-Internal Medicine Program and 6 positions in the Preliminary One-Year Medicine Program. The Categorical Program consists of 36 months of training in Internal Medicine.

The first year is spent as follows:

• eight months in inpatient General Medicine services
• two months in Critical Care
• one month in the Emergency Department
• one month of vacation

The Second and Third Years

The second year is spent as follows:

• two months in Critical Care
• two months on night float
• one month in ambulatory block rotation
• one month in elective (either Invasive Cardiology or Geriatrics)
• five months in inpatient General Medicine Services
• one month of vacation

The third year is spent as follows:

• two months in Critical Care
• one month on night float
• two months in Ambulatory block rotation
• one month in Emergency Department
• five months in electives
• one month of vacation
