During the three year residency, residents spend 35 % of
their time in Out Patient rotations, including two General Medical continuity
clinics, an afternoon clinic, and also an evening clinic, three ambulatory block
rotations and Emergency Department.
Ambulatory Block Rotations During ambulatory block
rotations, residents rotate to subspecialty clinics in medicine as well as other
specialties, such as office Gynecology, Dermatology, office Orthopedics, office
ENT, out patient Psychiatry, Rehabilitation Medicine, Adolescent Medicine, and
Ophthalmology.
Call Responsibilities Call and night float schedules
follow guidelines established by RRC Residency Review Committee, and the
Hospital and the Department. No resident is assigned more than 80 hours (RRC) of
patient care duties in a week. No resident is allowed to stay in the hospital
after a 24-hour work period. Every resident is assigned a 24-hour period off
from all duties each week. In Inpatient General Medical services, call is every
fourth night. There will be one or two calls per month during elective or
ambulatory rotations. These calls are short calls only.
Night Float: Sundays to Thursdays, 8:00 PM
to 8:00 AM (following day)
Short Call:
Mondays to Thursdays, 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Long Call
(12 hours): Sundays and Holidays, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM 24
hour Call: Fridays and Saturdays, 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM (following day), in the
Intensive Care Unit, night call is every third night.
