Colorectal Cancer Screening
Colorectal cancer
kills thousands of Americans each year and is the third leading cancer killer
in the United States. In 2002 there were an estimated 56,603
deaths from colorectal cancer alone. Americans spend billions of dollars a year on treatment for colorectal
cancer, which is the second most expensive cancer to treat after prostate
cancer.
Through the Division’s outpatient services, screening is
performed routinely to patients with indications for colorectal cancer.
Early detection and regular screenings are important in successfully
treating any type of cancer. Call the Division of Gastroenterology/Endoscopy
Unit for more information: (718) 963-7617.
