The Department of Surgery strives to provide the safest, most modern surgical treatments for all patients. By fostering a model of patient safety and excellence in care we are able to give our patients a personalized level of care that results in the best possible outcomes. The Department of Surgery is composed of multiple divisions, each having a section chief who is a well known and respected surgeon in their field. Under the guidance of Dr. Carryl, Chairman of the department, we are able to offer our patients a sense of comfort that they are receiving the best possible medical and surgical care.

The Department of Surgery is able to provide care of the whole patient, including surgical diseases of the skin, breast, hernias and gallbladder:

• Diseases of the skin include skin infections, lipomas and cancerous lesions such as melanoma. 
• Diseases of the breast include the non-cancerous types such as breast pain, abnormal drainage of fluid, and all forms of breast lesions including breast cancer.
• Hernias represent a defect of the abdominal wall and usually occur either in the groin (inguinal) or at the site of a previous surgery (incisional).
• Gallbladder disease is very prevalent in the western hemisphere due in large part to our diets. Patients with gallstones may at times experience a sharp pain; with a proper workup by a surgeon a patient may feel enormous relief after gall bladder removal.
