Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is extremely proud to announce the formation of a dedicated geriatric unit for the older adults in our community, where we are able to offer the highest quality primary and consultative care due to our board certified geriatricians and extremely capable team.

Geriatrics is a branch of medicine, which deals with providing healthcare to the elderly. At Wyckoff, our Geriatrics team works in partnership with our older patients to coordinate the many different aspects of their healthcare needs, making it possible for them to lead healthier more fulfilling lives and to maintain their independence as they age.

Seniors at Wyckoff receive what every patient deserves: involvement in their own care, kindness, compassion, excellent clinical care and the devotion of the best physicians, nurses, social workers, physical therapists and other allied health professionals working together to meet the unique healthcare needs of seniors. Management of the multidisciplinary care of older patients is coordinated on the Geriatric Unit and ranges from short-term rehabilitation services to long-term care, to access to community-based support organizations.

The clinical efforts of our Geriatric team are supported by our volunteer-driven Eldercare Services Program which provides warm and attentive personalized service to our older patients and their families.

The Division of Geriatrics is also dedicated to reducing disability due to Alzheimer's disease and other age related neurological conditions through clinical care, research, and education. We have annual family-centered workshops on a broad range of related topics, including "Home Safety for the Aging Parent" and "Caring for an Aging Family Member" which can be obtained from our website.

Dr. Rekha Bhandari, Board Certified in Geriatric Medicine is the Director of the Geriatrics Division at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.
